• 1. If you would like to have an item 3D printed, please ensure that you attach/upload a STL file only, all other 3D file formats will NOT be accepted. If any other format is submitted, (such as screenshots, .jpeg, .png, ZIP files, .pdf, .f3d, .ipt, .dwg, .dxf, .fbx, .ig(e)s, .obj, .sat, .skp, .smt, and .stp), your request will be considered invalid.

  • 2. Please specify your preferred colour (black or white). Colours are subject to availability. If your preferred colour is not available, a different colour will be used to complete your request. If no colour is specified, the next readily available colour will be used.

  • 3. Please specify the quantity needed for each print file.

  • 4. Please specify the dimensions of your print in millimetres (mm), stating the width, length and height for each value (W x L x H). If you do not include/have a preferred dimension, the default size of the object/file will be used.

  • 5. Please note that some objects will be downscaled/sized if no preferred size is given (i.e if a job is too large for the print bed). This is to ensure no material is unnecessarily wasted.

  • 6. There are no exceptions for submitting/printing any 3D models that are deemed inappropriate, regardless of whether they are intended for school or personal use. This includes but is not limited to; firearms, melee weapons (knives/balisongs, throwing blades, sharp edges), toy guns or any components relating to or resembling/imitating parts of a weapon, dangerous items etc. Any requests of such nature will be immediately closed/disregarded. Any requests submitted for masks will not be printed.

  • 7. All 3D printing requests should be given a lead time of 2-3 days (not including weekends). Some delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a large volume of requests submitted within a close timeframe, backlogged tickets, and busy periods of subject summative tasks/projects. If this is the case for your request, an email will be sent to you notifying you of the delay. It is the responsibility of the requester to submit a required job as early as possible to avoid any delays, as all requests will be treated the same as normal priority. This is to ensure equal fairness of time allocated across all requests and discourage line skipping / pushing to the front.

  • 8. Please note that there is a limit of 5 personal items per term, wherein each STL file uploaded/submitted to the Hive is counted as 1 item. This is to ensure an adequate capacity of materials and resources to accommodate for all students wanting to submit a request. Please keep in mind that 3D print requests of a personal/home nature are a privilege at Marist.

It is the responsibility of the requester (i.e you) to make your own modifications/alterations on .STL files that you wish to submit for 3D printing. The role of the Hive ticketing system is to produce your final design so that each request is able to be processed as quickly and efficiently as possible. This is to ensure fairness of time allocated across all requests and that tickets are able to be fulfilled within a reasonable time frame.

If you have any further questions please feel free to speak to the STEM Coordinators or the Hive Technician first before submitting a ticket if you are unsure about anything.
